About Houstonia Magazine

Houstonia Magazine launched in April 2013 as a news, entertainment, and information source for the people who call Houston home. Each month, the magazine canvasses the nation’s fourth largest city in search of newsmakers and tastemakers, including “people who are changing the way we eat, play, dress and think,” according to the publication.

Each year, the magazine sends out a survey to Houston’s attorneys, who then cast their votes for Houston’s Top Lawyers. The final list is comprised of the “best lawyers in Houston,” as voted by Bayou City’s own attorneys. The magazine also annually publishes a list of the city’s Top Doctors and Top Dentists, and contains extensive digital coverage of Houston’s food and bar scene along with arts, culture, and shopping.

CHRISTOPHER ADAMS

Name partner Chris Adams was recognized as a Houstonia Magazine 2020 Top Lawyer for his work in Bankruptcy Workout. He was previously named to the Texas Rising Stars List by Thomson Reuters in 2005, 2006, and 2007. He was selected as one of Houston’s Top Lawyers by H Texas Magazine in 2013 and 2014.

Chris gained valuable insight into the world of bankruptcy litigation serving as a judicial intern to the Honorable Wesley W. Steen of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. He then put those skills to practice while working at top national and international law firms handling business reorganization, business transactions and general commercial litigation. Currently, he focuses on corporate reorganization and restructuring, acquisition of assets in bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, civil litigation, and business transactions.

DAVID CURRY

Firm partner David Curry was selected as a Houstonia Magazine 2020 Top Lawyer for his work in Bankruptcy Workout. He was also recently selected to the 2020 Texas Super Lawyers List for his work in bankruptcy litigation. David has also been included among The Best Lawyers in America^© by U.S. News and World Report for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

David looks for creative ways to resolve legal issues while preserving his clients’ business, financial, and personal interests. His creative problem solving creates opportunities to improve and maximize prospects for his clients’ businesses. David has represented clients of all sizes in a variety of different commercial litigation, bankruptcy and restructuring, and commercial transaction matters.

JAMES W. “JIM” BARTLETT JR.

Recognized for his work in Commercial Litigation as a Houstonia Magazine 2020 Top Lawyer, Jim Bartlett serves as the head of Okin Adams’ litigation section. Earlier this year, he was also selected to the 2020 Texas Super Lawyers List for his work in business litigation. His legal industry recognition has also included receiving the President’s Award for Outstanding Houston Young Lawyers Association (HYLA) Committee Chair, the President’s Award for Outstanding Service to HYLA, as well as the Outstanding Young Lawyer of Houston Award. Jim has held a 10/10 “Superb” rating in litigation by Avvo since 2009, and has an AV Preeminent rating with Martindale Hubbell – the highest possible rating.
